FIGG was selected by ALDOT to assist with the completion of this cable-stayed bridge when the original contractor was removed from the project at approximately 30% of completion. FIGG checked the design, reissued plans, prequalified contractors, handled post-design services, and provided Construction Engineering and Inspection. During Hurricane Katrina in 2005, a 13,000-ton oil platform broke loose and impacted the bridge. FIGG performed an inspection of the main span structure, developed repair procedures, reviewed shop drawings, and performed Construction Engineering and Inspection during the field repairs. The bridge was fully reopened to traffic ahead of schedule.
