Alabama Department of Transportation selected FIGG to assist them with the completion of the bridge when the original contractor was removed from the project at approximately 30% of completion. The 7,291' long bridge features a 780' cable-stayed main span. In addition to assisting on the completion of the bridge, in 2005, when Hurricane Ivan winds pounded an oil drilling rig against the bridge superstructure, FIGG again assisted Alabama Department of Transportation. The bridge was inspected and opened to traffic immediately after the storm; following an assessment of conditions, plans were prepared to repair the damage and return the bridge to excellence condition.
